STENOGRAPHIC COURT REPORTER
A court reporter, also known as a stenographer, is a highly trained professional who provides an integral and necessary service to our legal system.
As dedicated custodians of the record, court reporters rely on a highly refined set of skills to accomplish the task of capturing the spoken word in realtime with the use of a Stenotype machine, a special shorthand keyboard. An advanced court reporter can offer realtime services in which they provide instantaneous conversion of the spoken word from their steno machine which is then displayed on a TV, computer, or smart device, in real time. This also allows their clients immediate access to the transcript.
In general, a court reporter must:
- Achieve a shorthand speed of minimally 225 wpm
- Be proficient in English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Have an excellent understanding of legal and business ethics
- Have an exceptional understanding of legal principles and medical terminology
- Possess a high level of professionalism
VOICE WRITER
Voice writers are skilled professional court reporters trained to transcribe spoken words into text using computer aided transcription software. Voice writers are typically hired for legal proceedings, including depositions, arbitrations, trials, hearings and shareholder meetings. Additionally, they work in educational institutions and venues where translation services are needed for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, such as schools, sports stadiums, televisions studios, high profile events, and more!
Those interested in a voice writing career or certification can visit the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA) for more information
DIGITAL REPORTER*
Become a Digital Reporter through the Veritext Partner Program and receive an introduction to the profession through practical and hands on exposure, as well as ongoing support. Applicants new to digital reporting will be accepted into the program by gaining experience through a pre approved Digital Reporting Introduction course.

LEGAL VIDEOGRAPHER
The legal videographer plays a crucial role in capturing the legal proceeding on video. The videographer works in tandem with the court reporter, who transcribes spoken words using a steno machine, to ensure the integrity of both the video of legal proceedings and the official transcript.
Legal videographers can also become Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS) through the NCRA. The CLVS program equips videographers with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their field. By investing in their education and certification through the CLVS program, legal videographers can position themselves for a successful and rewarding career in this dynamic and essential field.
Veritext is always looking for excellent legal videographers throughout North America!
LEGAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST
Through the Allegis Transcription branch of Veritext, there are opportunities for all types and levels of transcription experience. We are especially looking for Legal Transcriptionists and have a particular entry pathway to either becoming one or putting your expertise quickly to work. AAERT certified transcriptionists are paid at increased rates (30%).
Independent contractors are welcome to work transcription contracts in addition to other contract roles but must apply separately.
